Dance Masters of New England is a professional, certified membership organization of artists and educators, committed to the elevation of the art of dance, and to providing innovative, artistic experiences for the advancement of dance, worldwide.
In 1884 a group of dance teachers founded a club in Boston, which was known as “The American National Association of Masters of Dancing”. This became “Dance Masters of America”. In 1917 another club was founded in Boston, the “Dancing Teacher’s Club of Boston” which later became affiliated with DMA. A very large group of teachers then requested permission to form a local chapter and in 1960 Chapter 5 was reborn. The 86th National Convention held in Boston was the largest and most profitable convention to that date.
Member Rhee Gold served as National President 1996-1998.
